Just 6 months after launching Ed’s new daily menu, The Galley has made the Telegraph’s top ten selection of the best British seaside restaurants with a particular mention for our use of the best local produce: Exmouth mussels and cockles and day boat fish from Brixham, Looe and Newlyn. We’re delighted of course and feel sure that you’ll want to enjoy the best of the British summer with us. Whatever the weather, nothing beats fresh fish and seafood with a cold glass of crisp Muscadet to make you feel summery.

“Excellent. When you aim to prepare, cook and present food in this style, it can so easily go dreadfully wrong. In our opinion, it can get too fussy, only to reveal average food which fails to impress.
Not here! Congratulations to The Galley on an interesting menu; fresh and wholesome food beautifully cooked and well presented; served in a friendly, efficient yet unassuming way.
We had a wonderful evening and will be back.

22nd August - ”OWED” TO THE GALLEY AND IT’S SLAVES by Carol Heslop
We dined at the Galley on Friday night,
The meals were delicious, no need to bite.
The bream, the beef and monkfish were “brill”,
We savoured it all and took our fill.
“Cornish Tea” and bakewell tart
Chocolate praline, soft at heart.
But what was that rush of something silly
I could have sworn a hint of chilli?
Your menu is nothing if not inventive,
Ambience great, service attentive.
Many thanks to all concerned
Your efforts ensure we will return!
