Dolton Lodge was born and grew up locally in Exeter, Devon. Having had a passion for cooking since an early age, helping wherever he was allowed to in the kitchen at home with his parents, it was perhaps destined that he would move in to the profession. He later continued his professional training at Exeter College, where he was awarded the ‘Apprentice of the Year’.
During this period Dolton was also awarded Junior Membership of the prestigious ‘The Masterchefs of Great Britain’. Whilst developing his training and skills he entered various competitions culminating in reaching the National Finals of The Master Chefs of Great Britain ‘Young Chef of the Year’ competition held in London.
Dolton continued his apprenticeship at The Galley Topsham under the direction of former Head Chef and ‘Master Chef of Great Britain’ Ed McLachlan.
Dolton was appointed Head Chef at The Galley in July 2013 and is delighted at the opportunity this brings to further develop and explore his passion for cooking with all the wonderful fresh local fish and produce that Devon has to offer.
Nigel Mitchell has a passion for service, which probably stems from his days helping his uncle run the Punch & Judy tavern in Covent Garden. Since then, Nigel had a career in the RAF and aviation, but launched himself into the hospitality industry when relocating his young family to Padstow in 1997 where he set up a Bed & Breakfast business from scratch (currently rated as most popular in Cornwall by Tripadvisor) and worked for a particularly famous seafood restaurant front of house.
